A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh go maith agus ba bhreá linn a chur i gcuimhne daoib h go bhfuilimid ag smaoineamh oraibh go léir agus go bhfuil sibh agus bhur muintir inár bpaidreacha i gcónaí.

I hope that you are all well and would like to remind you that we are all thinking of you and keeping you and your family members in our thoughts and prayers.

Tá súil agam gur bhain na páistí taitneamh as na gníomhaíochtaí foghlama a roinneamar libh i rith na seachtaine agus go mbeidh siad páirteach sna gníomhaícohtaí agus comórtais arís an tseachtain seo chugainn! Ba mhaith liom an deis seo a thapa um na páistí ar fad a mholadh, tá obaor den scoth ar siúl acu, insíonn na múinteoirí dom faoi na gg áille a roineann sibh leo, an obair scríofa a dhéanann siad, na litreacha a sheolann sibh agus an obair ar líne! Tá siad ar fhabhas!

I hope that the children enjoyed their week and the activities provided by their teachers and I hope they will take part if possible again next week. Could you please read this to the children: I am so proud of every single one of you, you are doing wonderful work at home, helping your family and also doing some lovely work for your teachers! The teachers love telling me about the photos you send, the written work, the letters and all the work on your accounts such as Nessy and Kahn Academy! Is réalta an lae sibh ar fad!

Ta súil agam go raibh deia agaibh cupán tae a fháil nuair a bhí na páistí ag breathnú ar Scéal an Lae agus Cupán Tae, beidh ceann nua gach Luan.

I hope that you got a chance to have a cup of tea while the children watched the Scéal an Lae, there will be a new one each Monday!

An tseachtain seo chugainn coimeád súil ar Sarsfields GAA ‘Daily Skills Challenge’ @SashGAA ar twitter nó Facebook, you might see a few familiar  friendly faces! These activities are designed to be quick and effective. The focus should be on our páistí and ourselves being active regardless of skills level.  Beidh dúshlán nua gach lá! A new challenge each day!

Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all who shared this wonderful support with us at Gaelscoil Chill Dara!

Mhothaigh mé go raibh an tseachtain seo deacair, má mhothaíonn tú mar an gcéann le do thiol, glac sos más féidir, téigh ag siúl, bíodh picnic agaibh sa ghairdín, oíche scannáin, pé rud a thaitníonn leat. Má ta cabhair ag teastáil uait, labhair le duine éigean.

Personally I found this week more difficult than others and if any one is feeling the same please take a break this weekend, a nice walk, a picnic in the garden, a movie night, whatever you enjoy and if you need help or support please ask, we are all in this together. (High school musical were right all along!)

Back to school… with a difference

A thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh ar fad go maith agus slán.

I hope you are all well.

Tá na múinteoirí ag obair go dian ag ullmhú don Luan. Táim ag súil go mór le bheith ‘ar ais ar scoil’ ach gan an taisteal, cultacha scoile, na lónta agus obair bhaile! Ní bhíonn scamall gan gealán.

The teachers are all working away preparing for Monday. I am looking forward to being ‘back to school’ without travel, uniforms, lunches and homework! Every cloud has  a silver lining.

Moltaí  – Recommendations

  1. Oscail Aladdin ar ríomhaire chun an doiciméad le Obair na Seachtaine a fháil, muna bhfuil printéir agat, an bhféadfadh do pháiste na nótaí a scríobh sa dhilann obair bhaile, agus na pasfhocail do na suíomhanna, nessy srl. Open Aladdin on a computer to download the Obair na Seachtaine document and print, if you don’t have a printer, would your child be able to note in their dialann their work and passwords for nessy etc?
  2. Bí ullamh, iarr ar na páistí na leabhair, cóipleabhar/cóipleabhair, pinn luaidhe srl ar fad  a fhágáil in aon áit amháin agus iad achur ar ais gach lá. ( fiú sa mhála scoile!) Be prepared, ask your child to organise their books, copies, pens, colours etc now and put them in one place each day, even get them to pop them back in the mála scoile.
  3. Bíodh clár ama éigean agaibh agus déan iarracht cloí leis, bricfeasta, aer úr/aclaíocht, obair gan scáileán, TG4  ar scoil , lón ( déanta ag na páistí),  RTE Home School Hub, obair scoile gan scáileán, lón, aer úr/aclaíocht. Léitheoireacht, ealaín, drámaíocht, ceol,  obair ar na ríomhairí, rud ar bith is mian leo ach ná déan dearmad na leabhair srl a ghlanadh suas agus a chur ar ais sa mhála nuair atá sibh críochnaithe leo. Have some sort of plan, whatever suits you best, perhaps, breakfast, exercise/ fresh air, Cúla4 ar scoil at 10am, some lunch made and tidies away by the páistí! Home School Hub at 11, some non screen activities after this and then lunch. After lunch some fresh air, exercise, reading, art, music, projects, lego, work on literacy, numeracy computer accounts, whatever suits you. Don’t forget to tidy away the school books etc forn the next day.
  4. Is Gaelscoil í Gaelscoil Chill Dara agus luaigh tuismitheoirí áirithe liom go raibh deacrachtaí acu leis an nGaeilge, tá súil agam go gcabhródh na foclóirí thíos libh agus an nasc Gluais don Mhata agus Gluais don Mhata leis an CCEA agus Glossary for terms.
  5. Some parents mentioned to me that they were finding some of the Gaeilge challenging, I hope that the dictionaries below and the maths glossary above will be helpful. Dictionaries –  Focloir.ie  is a veru user friendly dictionary which also puts words in context and provides lovely phrases. Teanglann.ie provides pronunciation in the three dialects. An Draoi Gramadaí is a grammar wizard which will help find the right conjugation of the vberb, combine nouns, adjectives etc correctly! It really is a wizard!
  6. Léigh, caith am taobh amuigh agus tog go bog é. Múineann gá seift, ní ghá do na páistí a bheith gafa i gcónaí, bíonn mo pháistí an-chruthaitheach nuair atá leadrán orthu! Read, spend time outdoors, take it easy, this is new to every single one of us, we are all, everyone of us just trying our best. The páistí don’t need to be busy at all times, let them be bored, my own children are never more creative than when ‘bored’! Necessity is the mother of invention!
  7. Déan an rud atá feiliúnach dod’ chlann ach más rud é go raibh seans ag na páistí léamh gach lá bheadh sin ar fheabhas! Tá súil agam gur thaitin na moltaí don léitheoireacht libh an tseachtain seo caite, seo cinn eile don Ghaeilge, AskaboutIreland, Séideán Sí agus Scéal an Lae: Do what suits you and your home situation, but if you could possibly give the children a chance to read each day it would be wonderful. I hope you enjoyed the recommendations last week and here are a few more for Gaeilge and English.Askabout Ireland above and Séideán Sí provide a nice selection of ebooks as Gaeilge, Ask about Ireland more suitable for 3rd class on. The books are presented with the text and can be read as an audio if required. However if you prefer a nice cosy story time experience, Cula 4 and Futa fata have compiled a wonderful selection of storiesFuta Fata have developed new Scéal an Lae videos over the last fortnight and they are available on their facebook page at present. Again these reading activities also lend themselves to writing activities, could they rewrite the story putting in new characters, place, time or a fill in the blank execrcise. Story Line Online is a wonderful English language resource!

Beimid i dteagmháil libh don Luan agus beidh mé i dteagmhail libh arís ar an Aoine. Ná déanaigí dearmad, déan do dhícheall agus is leor é sin! Tugaigí aire agus fanaigí slán agus i gcónaí ár mbuíochas libh go léir agus go háirithe do na daoine atá fós ag obair taobh amuigh den teach ar ár son We will be in touch for Monday and I will be in touch next Friday. Don’t forget do your best and that is good enough, please contact us muinteoiri@gaelscoilchilldara.com if you need help or support, thank you all for all the work your are doing with our GSCD páistí and as always a huge GRMA to those working outside of the home so we can stay safe. Míle buíochas.

Activities for learning at home – Gaeilge – 10 tips

Posted on

As you know Irish is one of the 11 subjects on the Irish primary school curriculum. You can access all subjects and their curricula here!

We are all living and working in very difficult times and situations at present and as educators we are trying to support and guide by providing activities for learning at home. Some parents have brought to my attention that Irish is one of the areas which they are finding difficult to cover and so I have brought together some ideas and resources which I hope may support and guide anyone who is looking for information in this area!

Firstly, please do not worry, the most important thing is that you and your family are healthy and well, after that we will all work together with regards to school work!

Irish is a beautiful language and the curriculum above is laid out in a manner which hopes to introduce the children to the beauty of the language, to the spoken and written language as well as the cultural aspects. This new primary language curriculum also aims to provide the children with skills and knowledge to enable them to transfer their knowledge and skills from one language to another. Teaching for transfer of skills across languages is a very useful document and an interesting read which describes the manner in which children can be taught to transfer their language skills from one language to another and the benefits which this provides!

So point number two would be, remember everything you do in one language can be done in Irish, reading, writing, listening to stories, playing games such as Simon says or I spy, singing songs and saying rhymes, all transferable. So all activities you do in any language will be supporting the development of their linguistic skills which is a win win for all languages.

If you don’t have Irish or you have not engaged with the language in a long time you need materials to support you to do the above activities! The Irish language community have come together at this time like no other in my 23 years teaching and have developed and shared the most wonderful resources. I will share a few here but there are more, lots more,

3. Listening to the Irish language, I would recommend Cúla 4 , An Siopa Ealaíne and Spongebob are always a great hit. Don’t forget the Cúla 4 are starting their Cúla4 ar scoil from 10-10.30 each weekday from Monday 20th 2020. Cula 4 also have some lovely apps.

4. To listen  to the language and also to use it I would highly recommend a newly developed programme for primary school children by a wonderful teacher and presenter Julie Anne An féidir leat? This programme will give you and your child an opportunity to enjoy the stories and activities and use a few words at the same time. Why not press pause and repeat after Julie Anne!An féidir leat! Can you do it? Yes you can! Is féidir leat!

5. There are very few children I have met that don’t enjoy music or a catchy song, so to practise using your Irish while also reading if you have the words ( they are under the video in Lurgan videos) you could sing along

or for something a little more traditional you could use the wonderful site askaboutireland which has a large selection of Irish language songs and their lyrics here!

6. A very important aspect of reading the Irish language is to ensure that you are pronouncing the main sounds of the Irish language correctly. Mar a déarfá has a wonderful video in the three primary dialects of Irish which will help any learner to recognise and pronounce the sounds correctly. Mar a Déarfá . Once you know your sounds Túsfhuaimeanna which can be downloaded here is a very nice introduction to vocabulary and Fios fuaimeanna will keep you busy with what is in the picture/ name 5 things in the picture starting with b/ I spy games for quite a while! Cad atá sa phictiúr? Ainmnigh 5 rud a thosaíonn le b. Feicim le mo shúilín beag rud éigean a thosaíonn le b.

7. Cluichí – games, playing games is a wonderful way to use vocabulary which you have gained while watching a programme or using the websites recommended above, everything you play in one language can be played as Gaeilge, bingo, snap, go fish/ ag iascaireacht, match/ meaitseáil, I spy/ feicim le mo shúilín, words that begin with the same letter/ focail a thosaíonn le, give me a new word which begins with the last letter of my word / tabhair dom focal a thosíonn leis an litir deireadh i m’fhocalsa, word tennis/ leadóg focal – where you choose a theme and keep saying words based on the topic one at a time until someone has no new words – an older child could write the words to ensure they aren’t used twice! I went to the shop and I bought/ Chuaigh mé go dtí an siopa agus cheannaigh mé… A wonderful resource with lots of words already prepared and matched with pictures has been developed by Gaeloideachas. The Foclóir ar Théamaí éagsúla ( Vocabulary) and Lipéidí ( labels) are perfect to print out and use for language games, however older children could write and create the resources.

8. Askabout Ireland above and Séideán Sí provide a nice selection of ebooks as Gaeilge, Ask about Ireland more suitable for 3rd class on. The books are presented with the text and can be read as an audio if required. However if you prefer a nice cosy story time experience, Cula 4 and Futa fata have compiled a wonderful selection of stories

Futa Fata have developed new Scéal an Lae videos over the last fortnight and they are available on their facebook page at present. Again these reading activities also lend themselves to writing activities, could they rewrite the story putting in new characters, place, time or a fill in the blank execrcise.

9. Other wonderful options are Duo Lingo and Frása an Lae from gaelchultúr

and one last favourite is Saotharlann doodles, where lovely pictures are labelled in English, Irish and also the phonetic pronunciation for the Irish words!

I hope that this information is helpful and supportive in these difficuly times, in the words of Barack Obama Is féidir linn – Yes we can!

Fanaigí slán – Stay safe!

Reading for enjoyment this Easter 10.04.2020

Posted on

I love books and believe that giving children  a love for reading and  the mechanical skills required to read is one of the most important jobs I have as an educator. Books open doors to other worlds, they give us the opportunity to learn so much outside of our lives, understand so many people and explore other places and other times, all from the where you are right now, which at the moment is at home!  Books are magical!

As a child I watched my father read and re-read books (something I still have not mastered) and my sister and I spent hours upon hours reading under our duvets with flash lights when lights had been turned off, as an adult reading is still one of my favourite pastimes and once I have a book to read it is very difficult to get me to focus on anything else. I spent yesterday going through lots of the books in our home and trying to convince my 3 boys (so far unsuccessfully, but I don’t give up easily) to read something during the Easter holidays, my daughter and I spent most of the time reading ourselves, so my husband came home to us surrounded by a huge pile of books and no dinner. Today I will try to make the dinner before I sit down to read! Something I noticed while reading through the books, was the lovely way in which so many of the books which were gifted to us over the years had little messages on them, it brought me back to different times and memories of many who are no longer with us, but who also gave us the gift of a love for reading, so note to myself from now on when I give a gift of a book I will write a little note  inside too!

When you are reading at home with or alongside your children enjoy the experience, discuss the books if you wish, like a book club but mostly enjoy the experience, my cocooning mum is zooming in and out of her many book clubs and loving her contact with her book club friends!

If you would like some advice on how to use the books in a teacher manner, I found some wonderful advice from the pdst in the Independent 6.04.2020. The best way to improve your reading and enjoyment of reading is through reading! Please find below  bookflix recommendations courtesy of LibrarianIRL on Twitter! At the moment you can use Borrow Box once you have a library number which you can get online now here!

If you would like to start listening to an audiobook, my recommendation for this week is Elevenses with The World of David Walliams anseo!

PS Some very cute Easter reading activities anseo buíochas le Reading Eggs.

  5. for younger children● Ask your child to show you where to start reading – if they’re not sure, gently guide their attention to the text at the top left hand side of the page.● Tell your child about the full stop and what it means – occasionally give them the job of showing you where to stop for breath (understanding punctuation is one of the basic concepts about print that will support later success).● Give your child the job of page turner as this helps develop simple motor skills and confidence in book handling.

for all children

● Let your child choose the story they want to read or have read to them. Providing choice is a great way to keep your child interested and engaged in reading. It can also be a nice experience to share your favourite books from childhood.

● Have a chat about the cover and the blurb on the back. Share your ideas and thoughts and make predictions with your child using clues from the cover including the title and the illustrations.

● Read with expression: use different voices for the various characters or share the characters between yourself and your child/children. A dramatic reading can be a fun way to read a book as a family.

● Pause and discuss the pictures, the characters, the unfolding story line; but don’t slow down so much that the flow of the story is interrupted.

● Read for an audience: Encourage children to read to younger siblings or record your child reading a familiar story to send as a video to a friend or relative (this is a nice one to send on to grandparents who may be missing their grandchildren).

● Ask open-ended questions; questions to which there is no right or wrong answer, but which stimulate thinking, talk and discussion. ”I wonder” questions can be thought-provoking.

● When reading a simple story in English, encourage your child to share any words they know in the story as Gaeilge (or in another language that they may speak).

● Encourage your child to make connections with the book. They may be able to connect the story to some aspect of their own life or another book.

● Encourage your child to think about the characters, their feelings, why they might have acted the way they did and any changes they would make to the story. By practicing this aloud, you are cultivating your child’s imagination.

● Art is a great way for children to engage with their reading. Children can draw pictures of their favourite characters or part of a story.

● With younger or developing readers, one good read deserves another. Re-reading a book/story several times develops fluency and faster processing of words. Think of it like practicing a piece of music.

Tuismitheoirí Nua 08.04.2020

A Thuismitheoirí, a chairde,

Dear parents,

Conas atá sibh? Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibhse agus na páistí slán sabháilte agus táimid ar bís le bualadh libh chomh luath agus is féidir linn.

How are you? I hope that you and the children are all safe and well and we are really looking forward to meeting with you and the children as soon as it is safe to do so.

Ón 12 Márta i nGaelscoil Chill Dara bhíomar, mar fhoireann, ag obair go dian le cinntiú go raibh imeachtaí foghlama ar fáil do na páistí agus na tuismitheoirí sa bhaile, roinneamar suirbhé leis na tuismitheoirí le cinntiú go raibh na rudaí a bhí ag teastáil uathu ar fáil, ag baint úsáide as Aladdin bhíomar in ann teagmháil a dhéanamh leis na tuismitheoirí go léir agus ag baint úsáide as Class Dojo agus blaganna ranganna déirigh linn teagmháil a dhéanamh leis na páistí. Chuireamar glaonna agus sheolamar ríomhphoist nuair a bhí gá, le cinntiú go raibh tacaíocht agus treoir ann do na tuismitheoirí go léir.

Since the school closures in the 12th March, we as a staff, have been very busy ensuring we provided nice home learning activities to the children and their parents, we shared a survey with the parents to ensure that we were providing the right type of support, we used Aladdin to connect regularly with all of our parents and Class Dojo and Class blogs to ensure that we connected with our GSCD páistí. When required we emailed and rang parents directly to offer our support and guidance. It wasn’t easy but we all did our very best and are very busy preparing for the next term, We organised an art competition which the children really enjoyed and lots of the children participated! We also have a dedicated email address which is monitored daily so please contact us at muinteoiri@gaelscoilchilldara.com if you need to contact the school.

Táimid ag súil go mór le bualadh libh agus leis na páistí go luath ach idir an dá linn ba mhaith liom eolas a roinnt libh faoin scéim iompair scoile agus rud nó dhó go bhféadfá a dhéanamh le tacú le do pháiste le teacht ar scoil! Tá go leor rudaí ann a mholfainn de ghnáth ach nach féidir libh a dhéanamh faoi láthair – NÁ BÍ BUARTHA! is sibhse na múinteoirí is fearr a bheadh ag do pháistí riamh!

We are really looking forward to meeting you and our new GSCD páistí as soon as possible but between now and then I would like to give you some information regarding the bus scheme and also a few tips regarding your child starting school! As you can imagine some of these cannot be done at the moment, let them play with other children, bring them to visit the school etc, but DO NOT WORRY, you are the best and most important teacher that your child will ever have! So everything you are doing at home at present is perfect for your child!

Nuair atá tú réidh le labhairt le do pháiste faoi GSCD d’fhéadfá a mhíniú dóibh go mbíonn Gaeilge á labhairt againn ar scoil!

Molaim daoibh úsáid a bhaint as Cúla 4. Is féidir leis na páistí breathnú ar na cláir, chomh maith leis sin tá aipeanna iontacha ag Cúla4 ar fáil san

AppStore.

When  you are ready to talk to your child about GSCD you could tell them about the fact that we speak in the Irish language, I would highly recommend putting on Cula4, the children will happily watch the programmes while listening to the cúpla focal.

Cula4 is a wonderful resource for programmes and Irish language apps. Scéal an Lae is also fabulous and has lots of different stories through youtube.

Molaim aclaíocht a dhéanamh gach lá, tá Gaeilge agus corpoideachas ar fáil

10 @ 10

Exercise is very important everyday, and the 10@10 is avaiable in English or Irish!

Tá cara liom, tar éis clár nua a chruthú don Ghaeilge le déanaí, molaim go mór breathnú ar na cláir!

A friend of mine has recently developed a new show for the Irish language, I would highly recommend having a look!

Ar deireadh, tá a fhios againn an tábhacht a bhaineann le Ceol i nGaelscoil Chill Dara.

Finally, we love music in Gaelscoil Chill Dara so here is a nice piece to begin with thanks to FutaFata

Mar fhocal scoir, níl na laethanta seo éasca ar aon dhuine againne, táimid ar fad ag obair sa bhaile nó taobh amuigh den bhaile trí ghéarchéim dhomhanda, ní bhfuair duine ar bith againn oiliúínt le haighaidh laethanta mar seo. Glac le mo chomhairle le do thoil, déan do dhícheall agus is leor é sin! Chomh maith leis sin má tá cabhair ag teastáil uait, iarr ar dhuine éigean cabhrú leat. Ní neart go cur le chéile. Dóibh siúd atá fós ag dul amach ag obair gach uile lá ionas go féidir linne fanacht sa bhaile, go raibh míle maith agaibh agus fan slán.

Finally, I would like to say on a personal note, parent to parent, these days are not easy for any of us, we are working at home or outside of the home through a world crisis, none of us received any training for this! Please believe me when I say, do your best and that is good enough and if you need a helping hand, ask for one, united we are much stronger!

To those of you who are still going out to work everyday so that so many of us can stay safely at home Go raibh míle maith agaibh, thank you so much and please stay safe!

Tugaigí aire dá chéile. Take care of each other. #tiocfaimidslán

Le gach dea-ghuí,

A thuismitheoir, a chara,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh ar fad slán agus sláintiúil faoi láthair. Go raibh míle maith agat don aiseolas ar an suirbhé, chabharaigh sé go mór leis an bhfoireann agus muid ag ullmhú do na seachtaine atá romhainn.

I hope you are all well and safe, we miss the children so much and I hope they are enjoying the contact with their teachers. Thank you so much for completing the survey, it really helped as we were preparing for the weeks ahead.

An tseachtain seo ba bhreá liom eolas a roinnt libh mar thuismitheoirí a chreidim a bheidh cabhrach. I would like to share some information this week which I believe may be helpful.

Tá na páistí ag obair ar líne na laethanta seo ach caithfimid i gcónaí na moltaí atá againn maidir le Sábháilteacht ar líne a leanúint, moltaí iontacha anseo

Covid 19: Online Safety Advice for Parents

The children are working online and internet safety is more important than ever, wonderful advice above and below from the IPPN.

Tuismitheoir go Tuismitheoir: tá a fhios againn nach bhfuil rudaí éasca na laethanta seo, is príomhoide, is múinteoir mé agus mar is eol daoibh is tuismitheoir mé, is féidir liom roinnt de na scileanna a thraschur ón múinteoireacht go dtí an tuismitheoireacht agus vice versa ach tá sé do-dhéanta an dá rud a dhéanamh go foirfe. Thug mo mhac is óige cupán tae dom tráthnóna inné, déanta i Starbucks dar leis agus faoi Niamh scríobh sé Príomhoide/ Mumaí. An chiontacht, an gceapann sé go gcreidim go bhfuil mo phost mar phríomhoide níos tábhachtaí ná mo phost mar mháthair dó? Chuir mé ceist air agus dúirt sé liom go bhfuilim ag baint úsáide as mo “teacher voice” an t-am ar fad na laethanta seo. Mhothaigh mé go hainnis.

Parent to Parent: I understand that these days are not easy for us as parents, I am a principal, a teacher with nearly 25 years teaching experience and as most of you know a mum of 4. Lots of the skills which I have from these roles I can transfer from one role to the other but it is impossible to do both jobs perfectly  and to the standard I want, at the same time. Yesterday evening my youngest son made me a cup of Starbucks tea which comes with a name tag! mine said Príomhoide/ Mumaí… did this mean he thinks I am more a Príomhoide than his mum, I asked him what it meant and he said that I use my “teacher voice” all of the time now. I felt so guilty.

An rud is tábhachtaí na laethanta seo ná aire a thabhairt dúinn féin ionas go féidir linn aire a thabhairt dona daoine beaga atá againn sa bhaile ( agus na cinn nach bhfuil chomh beag!) Caithfimid cothromaíocht éigean a fháil idir na rudaí ar fad atá orainn a dhéanamh agus am faoi leith a dhéanamh dóibh. Uaireanta oibre mar a déarfá.

The most important job we who are at home have at the moment is to look after ourselves and the little (and not so little, we have a 17th birthday in our home today!) people in our lives. We have to find some balance between all the aspects of our lives and set time aside for them, perhaps specific working hours for my múinteoir voice!

Roghnaigh na tosaíochtaí agus is féidir le gach rud eile fanacht. Agus taobh amuigh de sin roghnaigh am a chaitheamh le chéile, ag déanamh rudaí le chéile, b’fhéidir go mbeidh na páistí in ann cabhrú leatsa! Déan do dhícheall agus is leor é sin agus mar a deir mo mham, níl tuile dá mhéad nach dtránn. This too will pass. Tabhair aire agus fan slán agus do na daoine atá fó ag dul amach ag obair gach lá cosúil le m’fhear chéile, go raibh míle maith agaibh agus tabhair aire!

Identify the priorities, and for some this will be school work, (mine are amazing me with their diligence at the moment) but every single situation is different, and let other things wait as we are reminded by the beautiful poem ‘Babies don’t wait’, choose doing things together, whether it is reading a story, watching a fun movie, doing the housework, preparing the dinner, just BE together. Do your best and that is good enough. As my  mum says, this too will pass, and so far she has a 100% record for being right, so I trust her this time too! Look after yourselves and take care, you can’t pour from an empty jug! And to those of you who are still going out to work everyday, like my own husband, take extra care of yourselves and thank you so much for enabling others to stay at home safely. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
