Seo roinnt smaointe iontacha buíochas leis an Measuredmom go féidir a dhéanamh sa bhaile – Here are some wonderful ideas for home to help promote reading thanks to the measuredmom.com
For this fortnight we are working in stations with different teachers focusing on different areas of the English language curriculum.
One group are working on reading real books and reading comprehension strategies.
Another group are working on their writing/spelling skills, revising sounds, blending them together and breaking down words to improve their spelling skills.
A third group are revising their digraphs and also working on vocabulary development while the final group are working on their penmanship and beautiful cursive script.
Please read and write with your child for enjoyment and to support their progress in this lifelong skill and pastime whenever and wherever possible.
One mole digging a hole
(Nice round and deep in the ground.)
Two snakes with garden rakes.
(Hiss, hiss, hiss. You do it like this.)
Three bears, picking pears.
(Pick and pull till the basket is full.)
Four foxes filling boxes
(Up to the top, and then you can stop.)
Five storks with garden forks
(Digging the earth for all we’re worth.)
Six parrots pulling up carrots
(Will anyone make a carrot cake?)
Seven frogs chopping logs
(The fire needs wood so chop ’em up good.)
Eight crows with a garden hose
(Get set for the jet that’ll get you all wet.)
Nine doves with gardening gloves
(Coo, coo, coo. Red, yellow and blue.)
Ten bees pruning trees
(Znip, znip, znip, let’z give ’em a clip.)
Now that all the work is done,
Who’s in the garden having fun?
One mole, two snakes, three bears, four foxes,
Five storks, six parrots seven frogs, eight crows,
Nine doves, ten bees – it’s everyone!
Everyone, enjoying the sun.
